Chicago is a long way from Texas...

Y’all, we’re crazy. We’re crazy for a lot of reasons. We’re crazy for remodeling our second house, a 1938 bungalow, with a four-year-old and one-year-old in tow. We’re crazy for living in Abilene, TX, where only two seasons exist: scorching summers and icy winters. And we’re crazy for thinking that driving 16 hours to Chicago for the National Association of REALTORS® Conference and Expo was a good idea!

Our booth was the issue at hand. Shipping a butcher block countertop, metal hairpin legs, conduit pipe, and oak shelves from Texas to Chicago was out of the question. And yes, we could have used pop-up displays with fancy graphics like everyone else, but that’s not who we are. We didn’t want to blend into the crowd and get lost in the shuffle. So, we drove 16 hours to Chicago and hauled 500 pounds of wood, metal, and power tools with us.

Well, it turns out the days of driving were worth it! The booth was a hit and we met hundreds of awesome folks! Some couldn’t wait to sign up and others couldn’t wait to get back to their home offices to spread the word. We met all types of people from brand new agents ready to launch to seasoned veterans looking to expand their businesses. We networked with marketing directors looking for opportunities to grow their brokerages and company founders discussing possible partnerships.

It was truly a wonderful experience. From the convention to the restaurants to the sights and sounds of the Windy City, our appetites to venture beyond the Texas border were satisfied… for now!

All the best!
